St Ives is a great place to enjoy with your four-legged friend and with our dog friendly luxury holiday cottages in St Ives just moments from the beach you couldn’t be in a better position for enjoying the local beaches, coastal walks and St Ives harbour...

Our luxury dog friendly accommodation in St Ives brings you straight out on to St Ives biggest expanse of beach, perfect for dog friendly stays in St Ives between October and March when dogs are allowed free reign over the local beaches.

There are also many great coastal walks heading out in both directions along the cliff tops of St Ives, with one taking you around to Carbis Bay ending in Lelant, near one of the greatest dog friendly beaches that is open year round to mans best friend. Heading out of St Ives in the opposite direction you will find some of the most awe-inspiring cliff top views, with the Tinner’s Arms for refreshment along the way.

There are plenty of dog friendly restaurants, bars and cafes within St Ives itself, including Hub burger bar with beautiful views out across St Ives harbour and the Sloop Inn for cosy laid back drinks by the fire.

We recommend using our helpful dog friendly guide located within the apartments to give you a clear idea of what’s on offer in the surrounding area.

St Ives in Winter…

St Ives is one of Cornwall’s few coastal fishing towns that is open all year round, with a wide variety of festivals spanning all seasons, acting as a hub to a thriving coastal community. This can sometimes become disguised during the core of the summer months, as the town becomes full of brightly coloured buckets and spades…

Once the summer subsides the St Ives community springs back in to life, whilst in contrast the beaches empty out, and come October beaches are yours for the taking, with the vast open spaces ready for you to discover, without hazard of treading on someone else’s carefully honed sand castle.

Cornwall has always been renowned for its mild winters, with crisp blue skies and long stretching horizons. Perfect for meandering coastal walks, pub lunches, and afternoon cream teas. With our luxury apartments in St Ives creating the ideal space for relaxing and recuperating after days out in the fresh Cornish air.

Out of season you will also find that the roads are much quieter than in the summer months, giving you plenty of chances to venture to Cornwall’s beauty spots, unhindered by the usual summer tail backs.

Should you be looking for dog friendly holiday in St Ives, look no further as the Sail Lofts has three dog friendly apartments, all just a stones throw from ideal walking, running and ball chasing hotspots; including from October 1st Porthmeor Beach, an expansive stretch of golden sand, that sits across the road from the apartments.

If you are looking for retail therapy, again you shall find all the shops in St Ives open and ready for business albeit in October much quieter, perfect for pursuing. The high street is bursting full of the likes of Seasalt, Crewe and Fat Face along with St Ives beautifully unique boutique shops and galleries.

The majority of restaurants you shall also find still open, and with much higher likelihood of getting the best seats in some of St Ives top eateries, which is reason enough to come out of season and enjoy St Ives.

Should you be interested in booking a stay in a luxury apartment in St Ives, or in finding out more about what St Ives has to offer in the winter months, please get in touch with us on 01736 799175. We are on hand to help, and to make recommendations on what to see and do whilst here in St Ives.

Days out and about around St Ives Bay...

We all know that St Ives has plenty of amazing things to do and see, but there are also many things in the local area worth checking out whilst self catering in St Ives...

Godrevy

Looking out from St Ives Harbour casting your gaze along the coastline you will spot the distinctive shape of Godrevy’s lighthouse. Godrevy consists of a beautiful sand dune beach, plenty of rock pools and an awe inspiring coastal walk along North Cliffs where you can catch glimpses of the local seals sunbathing on hidden coves along with an amazing café serving some of the best cooked breakfasts imaginable, we recommend sitting out on the top deck and taking in the views.

Godrevy is only a 15-minute drive from St Ives and is worth a visit and is amongst one of our favourite local spots for lazy afternoon strolls.

Trevaskis Farm

We love Trevaskis Farm, just outside of Hayle and only a 15-minute hop from St Ives. Boasting pick your own fresh fruit and veg, farm park, market shop and deli, not forgetting an amazing family friendly restaurant.

Trevaskis is a day out at its best in Cornwall, giving a great idea of working life on a farm. Great for all ages to experience, we especially enjoy strawberry picking afternoons topped off by a cream tea in the restaurant.

Paradise Park

After recently spending a whole day entertaining my niece at Paradise Park, I cannot recommend it enough for a truly enchanting day out. We visited on a slightly overcast Spring day, with high chances of rain which didn’t dampen our spirits as we wandered around the beautiful gardens and visited spectacular species of birds from around the globe. With plenty to see and do, we spent a whole afternoon walking around the grounds, and being enthralled by the live displays including ‘Flight of the Rainbows’ where visitors can feed nectar to parrots.

Our highlight were the flamingos, free roaming around the central area all twinned with beautiful horticulture, a sight I will not forget in a hurry.

These are just a few of our recommendations whilst self-catering in St Ives for perfect days out about around St Ives Bay...

St Ives self-catering days out...

Here at the Sail Lofts we recently updated our luxurious self-catering apartments in St Ives with the stunning addition of Cornwall based Atlantic Blanket's woolen throws, with their bold colours and subtle textile designs they add a level of comfort and practicality into each of our Cornish cottages, creating a truly authentic feel.  As there is nothing better after a long day in Summer spent on the beach than returning to your apartment to warm cold knees snuggling into a familiar cosy Atlantic Blanket...

Atlantic Blankets formed in 2007, when in need of a blanket to comfort a little girl suffering a miserable bout of the spotty pox. Knowing exactly the kind of blanket needed to help her feel better...the silky feel of a much-loved brushed mohair throw that possessed magical curative powers of cosiness!

Growing up in Cornwall we always had our trusty picnic blanket stored away in the car boot, ready for any impromptu visit to the beach, hikes across the headlands, keeping warm around an evening campfire or even to just snuggle with for a long car journey. Our own tartan family blanket has seen better days, however still resides (slightly patched) on the back seat of our family car.

Atlantic Blankets seasonal collections and designs change from stripes to arans, to herringbone and checks, meaning there is always the perfect colour and design to match and warm every interior. The latest Bloom Collection sings of fresh spring colours and warm peaches, a perfect accompaniment to any and every family picnic on Porthmeor or any of the surrounding St Ives beaches, they have even designed leather straps for ease of carrying for when you are out and about on your travels.

Our favourite is the Green Picnic Blanket with its waterproof backing, ideal for avoiding soggy bottoms and sandwiches. We also recommend checking out the Atlantic Blanket blog to see their top 5 picnic spot recommendations here in Cornwall, so on your next self-catering holiday in St Ives there are some great ideas of places to visit in and around the area, Tehidy Woods and its coastal walks are amongst some of The Sail Loft teams favourite weekend haunts.
