How does the St Ives dog ban effect you?

With Easter hot on our heels, we are reminded that the seasonal dog ban from the local beaches is imminent. The St Ives dog ban is in effect from the Sunday prior to the start of the Easter holidays (Sunday 20th March) and runs through to the 30th September…

What does this mean to you and man's best friend? Well here is a handy guide to the St Ives dog ban to help you make the most of your luxury self-catering holiday:

1.     No Dogs allowed on Porthgwidden, Porthmeor and Porthminster Beach whilst the ban is in effect.
2.     No Dogs on Harbour Beach between 8.00am and 7.00pm
3.     No Dogs on Carbis Bay Beach between 8.00am and 5.00am, however between 5.00am and 8.00am the beach is open for early morning strolls.

OK, granted no stay in St Ives with your dog in the Spring and Summer (even though it is sunnier) is the same for your four-legged friend as it is in the Autumn and Winter, as your four-legged friend can’t charge across the expanse of Porthmeor Beach. But, does this need to make St Ives a no go zone for dog lovers for 6 months of the year? We think not…

St Ives is a great place to base yourself for a week self-catering in Cornwall, with its multitude of stunning coastal walks for the adventurous, circular walks like taking a stroll around the Island for those with shorter legs or even for meandering through the St Ives lanes stopping in the towns many dog friendly cafĂ©’s and bars for a pit stop lunch, or even for a cheeky pint whilst your pooch rests their paws, did we forget to mention St Ives year round dog friendly beaches?

There are two tidal beaches in the town which allow unrestricted dog access all year round, Bamaluz which is located between the Harbour and Porthgwidden in front of the St Ives Museum) just around the corner from the Sail Lofts luxury self-catering apartments in Cornwall, and Lambeth Walk which is located behind the Lifeboat station. At low tide Lambeth Walk beach extends right down to the Lighthouse at the end of Smeaton's Pier.

If we have convinced you that St Ives is a year-round destination for you and your four-legged friend why not start to plan your own luxury self-catering holiday in St Ives by getting in touch with the Sail Lofts team to find out more, or why not see more on our dog friendly accommodation in St Ives by following the link below.
